Alongside Xantor Cool Electronics technology, BIXOLON Europe‘s mobile printer enables seamless, reliable and efficient smartphone-based ticket purchase and printing.

Düsseldorf, Germany, 02.02.2026 – BIXOLON Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of BIXOLON, the global manufacturer of advanced receipt, label, and mobile printers, has today announced that its SPP-R310 mobile printer has been selected to support Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois’ (CFL) onboard ticket control and sales.

Luxembourg’s national railway company, CFL, has transitioned from an all-in-one industrial-type mobile system to a modern smartphone-based platform for onboard ticket control and sales. This created the need for a supporting Bluetooth-enabled mobile printer to function alongside this platform; that is capable of reliably printing on secure ticket paper, while delivering high-speed, high-quality printing results for the operator and its passengers.

To meet operational demands, the printer had to be reliable, robust, and equipped with strong, long-lasting battery life to withstand the fast-paced environment of daily onboard operations. CFL selected BIXOLON’s SPP-R310 mobile printer for its proven reliability, speed, and user-friendly design.

The printer ensures daily onboard transactions run smoothly, with the battery life proven to be more than sufficient for agent’s full shifts. The printing is managed through a custom mobile application running on mobile handsets developed by Xantor Cool Electronics. Once Bluetooth is enabled, the application communicates directly with one of the 350 active printers, allowing the printout to be produced automatically. This direct communication eliminates the need for additional middleware or drivers, keeping the process simple and efficient. As a result, agents now spend less time managing equipment, freeing up more time for assisting passengers.

Marceau Bernard, Passenger Traffic Technical and IT Systems Operations Engineer at Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, said: “It is really the combination of the smartphone app with the printer that has increased the efficiency and ease of use for our agents. We were able to retire our old, dedicated devices, significantly reducing the equipment weight carried by our staff. This improved the work ergonomics since the printer is now attached to the agent’s belts instead of being handheld.”

Paul Kim, Managing Director BIXOLON Europe GmbH, said: “We are delighted that the SPP-R310 mobile printer was selected to power CFL’ onboard ticket control and sales, which is now a fantastic example of successful modernisation of onboard ticketing operations, which benefits both the operator and the public using this essential service.”

He added: “It’s exciting to see our printers contributing to a seamless, frictionless ticket purchasing and printing experience on every CFL journey. Implementations such as this have proven the performance and reliability of mobile ticket printing, setting a strong foundation for scalable solutions in future.”
